The following positional changes seem to be indicated by the club (on available evidence) for the coming season. Naturally a lot of these could be thrown out by round 4.

    Deledio - Midfield
    Newman - midfield
    Post - CHB
    Griffiths - CHB
Derickx - Marking forward who helps out in the ruck
    Connors - forward

    Any others?

Do you think they're all good ideas?

Agree with TBR...I think Griff is being given an opportunity to see what he can produce down the back. I think Connors going forward is along the same lines. I also think Post needs to have a very good year this year.

Postie is looking good, he will dominate CHB this year. I can feel it in ma bones.

Griff at CHB and Derrickx to CHF. Sounds like it may be an excelent positional changes. If Griff doesn't read the play well, perhaps playing in the backline will mean that his player leads him to the ball more. When he gets the ball, whoa, what a kick.

The big D Man apparently was a forward in juniors, and then he grew.

Yes Jase i like the idea of Griff (back) and D-rex (fwd).

With D-Rex, Vicks and Maric it srikes me as a 3 prong tall forward ruck combo, like what WC did this year with Cox, Natanui and Lynch. If they are athletic, quick enough and do the defensive pressing and chasing it can work.

I have no idea of how Drex is going to go so waiting to see before I can like that.

Grifftihs up forward with Jack and the resting ruck is what I would like to see

Griff forward for mine. Maybe play him down back on some good CHF to get him into the game and show him where to lead, but ultimately I'd like to see him at the other end.

Now that we have the back sort of looking good, can't wait to see the damage it will allow Newman and Lids to create in the mid.

Where was it mentioned Connors will be playing forward? That has been tried before with little success.

Training reports have also had him as a fwd, in the groups, or in match simulation.

He had some good games at Coburg as a fwd, too. Worth a try.

Not sold on Griff down back. He seems to be a natural marking power forward. Maybe they are sending him down back for a season as an educational thing since big blokes usually take longer to develop. That would mean that once he does return forward, he would be applying incredible tackling pressure, and his endurance would probably be much better too. Not to mention playing down back would probably help teach him into a lead up forward.

    Bring back Cleve Hughes!

He was very good down back in 2010 as well. I don't understand the move.

The prospectus showed that we have 11 general defenders on the list which is the most in the AFL, but we have the least mid/forwards, we may need to change people around who can play in other roles.

I really really like Newman moving into the midfield though. Now we have Houli, Morris, Ellis, etc running from HB, as well as Griff or Post or Astbury, etc as that tall CHB. Newmans speed, precision and leadership in the middle will just be fantastic. Add Lids into the mix and by Talos are we looking strong.

Interesting for Connors though going into the FWD. What role would he play? Would he be an extreme pressuring forward like King, or a running, carrying and stealing forward like Nahas? Either way you have to question if any other small forwards like White, A. Maric, Helbig or even MacDonald are ahead of him for that position. Not of course forgetting King and Nahas.

Can remember Dan Connors a few years ago playing fwd in both seniors and burgers and being a very strong marking target. Has the propensity to sit on blokes heads. I think other than Dusty, we really lack a marking small fwd, and marking isn't really one of his real strengths. Would love to see Jackson, Connors, and Grigg all played in a ryan o'keffe style role. Grigg and jackson are both taller, but think connors veritical would cut down the difference. Even if he only got a gig for a few games, if he can pull down a few hangers (which he will definitely try and do) his market value will increase. Think we have room for only 1 maybe 2 of the players previously mentioned in the post at year end, if we could get something for the discard that woul be fantastic.

Cant see the logic in Newy going into the mid-field myself. We need his generalship down back and he can still run off for his long bombs for goal. Our back line is still our key weakness and although Rance, Grimes and Houli hve all come on I'd still like to see Chris down there. Lids on the other hand must come into the midfield - that's a more natural role for him and his chance to really stand-up as a leader in the team.

Connors could play anywhere on the ground if he was fit and worked hard.

Big 'ifs' in his case though.
